The last few scheduled performances of my winter show are always tricky… will it still feel like winter, or will it feel like spring? Last year, due to a mild winter, there were kids wearing shorts at the last two performances of the “Super Snowy Magic Show”.
This year, it’s mostly felt wintry for “Tales of Winter Wonder”, but on Tuesday I had two shows and the temperature got up over 60 degrees – barely any snow left out there. I have one more performance scheduled for next week, and I think I’ll probably present it as an “end of winter celebration”… one last blast of winter fun before the spring arrives!
And arrive it will – already I’ve seen a flock of robins, and there was a fly buzzing outside my window the other day. So it does feel weird to get up in front of the audience and talk about the joys of winter at this point in the season.
I mentioned that the Snow Fairy is still going to be hanging around for another few weeks and one of the teachers at the show said, “Don’t say that!” People are definitely mentally ready for spring.
But – it’s not diminishing the fun for the kids. We’ve been having a blast at the shows, and after next week’s final performance, I’ll be switching over to my new Magic Circus show through the spring and summer.
