A couple weeks back, I noticed a picture of a puppet building acquaintance of mine, Smith Handerson, with his table set up at a ventriloquist convention. Amidst all the color and craziness of these wonderful puppets, one of them really jumped out at me… this cute yellow character. What would you name this goofball?
I wrote and inquired if that puppet was still available, but unfortunately it was not. It was promised to someone else. Bummer. But… oh well, what can ya do? With puppets, I’ve learned that if you see one you like, you have to grab it quickly because they’re generally one-of-a-kind items that are not mass produced.
I missed the boat. But wait! There was still hope! Smith wrote that the person who requested the puppet seemed unsure about the purchase and had not yet paid for it. I said, okay… if that falls through, let me know.
TA-DAH! It fell through. Bummer for that other performer, but good news for me! This little yellow goofball is on his way to me, soon to be part of the cast. I’m not sure what his/her name will be, nor do I have any idea what the character will be like. That always comes from putting the puppet on my hand and playing around with it. So we shall see.
Anyway, I’m pretty excited – very anxious to receive this new character and see how the character develops.
